Hi my name is Boxer and it gives me enormous pleasure to introduce my modest self to you and share with you a diary of all that goes on in my wonderful home, Pennywell Farm.

Boxer the ShirehorseThere are two of us Shire Horses at Pennywell, soon to be three, which is absolutely splendid news. My friend and colleague, Fusilier has a loose box opposite mine and we are the very best of friends.

Let me tell you a few facts about my illustrious self. I weigh just over a ton which is heavier than a Landrover! I am 17.2 hands tall (that's a little under 6 feet to my wither - the part of my back that joins to my neck).

I was born in the Midlands 12 years ago and then moved to the borders of Wales before going to live at the National Shire Horse Centre, where I first met my friend Fusilier and we had a great time pulling a cart together.

When I was 8 years old, Farmer Chris came to see me and told me all about Pennywell. Fusilier and I moved there soon afterwards and I soon became the star attraction! Actually, Fusilier and the rather annoying miniature piglets like to claim that accolade but there can only be one star in any farmyard.

As you can imagine, I see and hear everything that goes on so I hope that you will enjoy reading my diary and hearing all about my wonderful life at Pennywell.

God bless you

Your chum,

Boxer x

p.s: I am very knowledgeable so if you have any farming questions you need answered, email: boxer@pennywellfarm.co.uk, I'd also love to see your Pennywell pictures and hear about your time on the farm.
